Be Inspired

Lately, I’ve been grasping for inspiration everywhere I look. I search for music, words and pictures to inspire, motivate and keep me on track.

With the Summer Olympics in our rear view mirror, you’ll probably agree that over the past few weeks there has been plenty to gain inspiration from. From the stories of incredible athletes to the well played commercials by brands, inspiration was everywhere we turned.

Here are a few of the things that have helped me to be inspired.

I love this commercial from Nike. The Find Your Greatness campaign reminds us that we each have our own personal goals when it comes to fitness. Just because we might not be a record breaker or a world championship athlete does not mean we lack greatness. Anyone who wants to achieve their own personal accomplishments can. Just do it, right?

Hey, Fat Girl”

This blog post by FlintLand is one of the most inspiring, relatable, courageous posts I’ve read. Hope you will read it too.

Eclectic Whatnot

Do you follow the blog, Eclectic Whatnot? If you are interested in an inspirational journey of someone like you and me who has turned into a dedicated runner, you’ll want to follow her blog. Ruthanne has come a long way and shares her story with such honesty…every time she gives you a run update you’ll be inspired to get out there and hit the pavement yourself!

The Nifty Foodie

One of our very own Red Faced Runner 5K Challenge participants wrote a heart wrenching, yet extremely inspiring post the other day. In the post, “When Are You a Runner?“, Amy chronicles her journey to becoming a runner and shares the challenges and obstacles she has faced. It’s a story very much worth reading.

And, of course, my daily dose of inspiration comes from you all… those of you tweeting, facebooking, instagramming and emailing your stories and challenge updates. Every time I see one of your beautiful red faces in my feed, I smile a little brighter and feel inspired to continue on this journey to a more active and healthy me. Thank each and every one of you for that.

Inspiration can be found everywhere we look. What’s inspired you lately?

Wow! Thanks so much for including my post in here! “Hey Fat Girl” is one of the posts that really got me inspired to run and keep going with Couch to 5K. It’s an excellent post!

I’ve also been following Ruthanne for a while (mainly because she is so dang crafty), but now that she’s running, it’s so amazing to see how much she has accomplished!

The olympics were a HUGE inspiration to me and now the two Nike Greatness commercials that I saw – the boy running and the skateboarders. Plus finding the Red Faced Runners has been great. I like to see things daily to motivate me and I do being a part of this group!

I’ve really been struggling with my running lately. But then I read Born to Run and I am so hugely inspired. I have a background in human evolution and so much of what he wrote really clicked with me. We are evolved to run long distances and I want to find that in myself again. It’s truly exciting to feel this love for running again.

Even though I have run about 10 half marathons, numerous 10k’s and such, I have never considered myself a true runner. I’ve never really liked doing it, but like how I feel when I finish (usually). I’m really, really (no, really) slow and am always the last to finish out of the group that I run with. I just took about 1 1/2 years off of running while going to school full time and working full time. You have now inspired me to get back out there and go. I’m only on the 2nd week of the program, but am making myself run up the hills if that’s where I am in the run part of the run/walk. You’ve inspired me to just get out there in the blazing temperatures in the mornings. So, know that you all are just as inspirational (or more so!) than any of the commercials out there. Rock on!

I am inspired by this site and the success stories this group shares. I started exercising this Spring because of the positive impact it was having on my lovely wife. I am not a big sharer as Kristen can tell you, but this group makes me feel better and inspires me every day.

This site, my wife and the feeling I have after exercising. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me to get out and do something.

Great reads. I loved that nike commercial. It made me teary. I am inspired by you all right now. I KNOW #RFR5K is the reason why I didn’t stop after reaching my first 5k goal in April. There are times when I think I should take the day off…then I remember that I have a 5k to rock on September 8th ;)
